I just got off the phone with cross enterprises and ordered up the trailmate 1 rear bumper with receiver, tire rack and receiver shackle. they are "including" the mounting holes for the tire rack to the bumper for free. i would think that they would do that anyway, but what do i know? total for the package along with the frame brackets and shipping is $616.96

My old kayline body mounted rack is coming off and I will cover the holes with wp warrior 12 gauge steel corners. I looked at the off your rockers corners and just couldn't justify spending $200 on a set of corner guards so these should work for $104. they are flat steel, not diamond plate. acme jeep and tellico 4x4 both have them. acme charges $20 shipping.

I also ordered a set of led tail ligts and will get rid of the ugly later model jeep lights that are on their now. these are about $62 shipped.

here's the back of the jeep now:

    Good deal...

You'll love the bumper and tire carrier setup - it's first rate.

Edit - you'll have to take the gas tank back out....:D

I knew I wanted to get rid of the kayline rack and was getting ahead of myself with the tank install so I stopped and figured out everything i needed over the weekend.

    Chris,

who did you get the LED taillights from? I'm wanting these, myself, and am not sure where to begin looking. Did you get them already? If so, are you pleased with the entire deal?

    Thanks!

Been thinking about doing those LED tailights myself. Might actually build mine, though. Probably money ahead buying them, but there's some potential to do some cool stuff building your own!

Do LED lights work with stock wiring harnesses, or do you have to have something special?

Yes, the stock wiring will work. Just remember to get the pig tails w/ the lights.

lights should be here tomorrow :)
but the corners won't be here 'till monday :(

    any tips on installing corners?
my plan is to install corners first, then cut holes for lights and fuel filler... sound good?

    thanks, chris

Start in the middle...on the bend, and then work towards the tailgate and fender opening.

Make sure to eyeball where the tops of the wheelhouses are so your bolts go through with enough room to get a nut on. DAHIK....;)

    my corners came today :)

a little dusty but i think they look nice. just need to test fit one.
nice and heavy for the price.

i also got my leds and they are pretty nice also, but they are a little bigger then i wanted. i will have to decide if i want to keep them or not.

ok, so the corners came with something called a pop rivet. how do you use these things, and are they even worth using?

    thanks, chris

With a poprivet you need a poprivet gun, you can get cheap ones at Lowes or HD just make sure to get the correct die for those rivets if you use them. Personally the only thing I use poprivets for is holding two pieces of sheetmetal together while I weld them, they are fairly strong but for this application I would use bolts.

I wouldn't pop-rivet either. Typically I've only done that in places where it won't show, or when I can't get to the backside to get a nut on. It's easy to scratch the paint too - as the pop rivet gun jumps when the rivet shaft finally cuts off.

I was just at the hardware store tonight figuring out what to mount my corners with. They came with stainless button head bolts, which were kinda nice but I didn't like the shiny bolt heads jumping out at you. Easy to scratch the paint using an allen wrench as well, and some of them stripped a bit taking them off.

I ended up with plain old 1/4" x 3/4" hex heads - so I can paint them to blend in. I 've got a coat of paint drying on them now, and will probably have to touch them up once installed.

those are the same size as mine. i guess it's not toooooo big, + i'm not going to use reverse lights. just a single light mounted on the bumper or tire carrier.
