Kicking around the idea of getting a set of 31" BFG Mud-Terrains for my 1953 M38-A1. Steering is stock (replacing the bellcrank soon). I do have the 11" brake conversion however and the Buick 231 has more then enough power to push them. Right now I have a set of 235/75/15 BFG AT's and steering isn't much of a problem. What can I expect in regards to turing corners with 31's? Think I'll break anything?

running 33-12.50's with stock steering and smallblock chevy. havent broken anything yet. Turning the wheel stopped on rough pavement will give you a little workout.

x2. I had 31x10.50x15's on the flattie with the stock ross box setup and it did fine. The catastrophic failure down at Tellico was more due to a crappy rebuild (mine) of the Ross box than any weakness of the system. I gotta say though, that the test-fit of the saginaw conversion tonight has dispelled any thoughts of going back to the Ross setup. YMMV. ;-)

I really never had a problem with my Ross in 12 years other than the Popeye arms and the fact that driving on a long trip became a chore, the power saginaw was the single biggest improvement I ever made. The front locker being the 2nd best one.

I still have the 'ol Ross an 31s with a D25 locker, Don't plan on changing any steering stuff. It just builds up your arm.
