Can someone explain what this cable mount is used for or what’s supposed to be attached to it? The manual shows it in the frame section but that’s as far as I’ve seen. New to me ‘73 cj5, 258, T18 and Dana model 20. Sorry, title says ‘72 it’s really a ‘73. Pics to show reference part.
    Thanks

Looks like the cable operated clutch part that happened from cable to rod linkage transition that happened around ‘72.

Thanks Nick, that makes sense given location and mechanical transitions happening during that timeframe. The Jeep is setup with clutch rods and mini bell crank but I don’t know history so makes sense it was updated at some time in its life.

Looks more like an exhaust hanger to me.
Appears to be nothing on the other cable end?
Can't see any relation to clutch in my opinion.

    Me too.
A cable clutch system wouldn't have a fixed anchor for the cable and the rod system uses no cables.

There’s no other cable end, just what’s in the picture. My clutch setup is exactly what’s in the ‘73 shop manual.
