Not out of gas. Runs with gas in carb, once the fuel is gone, it dies and won't start

Is there a filter before the pump?

With headache this has caused and the lack of decent replacements, I would invest in a couple of electric pumps. I had an experience
where I needed a pump and tools brought out to me in the rough.

This happened to me a couple times before.

The first time it was because one of the screws that retains the poppet valve retainer plate (in the fuel pump) backed out and was hitting the pump diaphragm. keeping the pump from actually pumping anything.
The second time, The fuel lines had been routed too close to the manifold and were heating up. fuel was boiling in the lines when it was hot out.

in either case, The fuel was filling the float bowl in the carb just enough to keep it running for a short time but then it would die as soon as a consistent demand was needed. such as steady gas pedal for more than a few seconds.

Check this too. If air is leaking into the lines at any point, such as a poorly clamped fuel line connection, this could cause the fuel pressure to be inadequate.

He had it running with the Omix-Ada pump he put on it, then it quit pumping. I have only had one of those import pumps and it lasted about as long as his did.

I think I would agree with the others about the fuel pump. So put in an electric, at least temporary, see if it cures your issue. If it does solve the problem then send that omix pump back to whatever vendor sold it to you. Then either find a better pump or just make the switch to electric permanent. Put the proper safety switches in, etc.

You have struggled with this issue for months, and I am sure it has been very frustrating for you, but the fact is you bought two pumps that didn't fit, then you bought a Omix-Ada that only worked for a little while.

I recommended rebuilding an original pump, and am making the same recommendation again. They are easy to rebuild, and good quality kits are available. When I needed a pump I got a good quality kit from CMV and rebuilt an old one I had. If you don't have an original to rebuild I am sure one could be found.

You can find one yourself by placing a WTB add in the forum classifieds. I am sure someone will have one gathering dust. I only have a couple right now but I am keeping them because I may need another one for one of the Jeeps I am working on.

You can get a good kit from CMV, I have used these and they are top quality.

That should work, it is made for carburetor engines. If it is going to be a permanent install you will need to add an oil pressure safety switch.

Air in the lines. It's all getting replaced properly. The fuel pump manually pumps fuel when actuated by hand with a line in a bottle of gas. When I blow in the line towards the tank gas pours out the hard line/soft line joint just above the sending unit.

Ok. new Fuel pump is bad. Just put in new tank, hard line along the bottom frame from the tank, to a soft line/fuel filter, to a soft line/hard line to fuel pump, full hard line from the output side of the fuel pump to the carb.

What are the odds the cam lobe is worn out where the fuel pump arm rides?
