Ok, so I decided to go with an Auburn Posi unit. I fought with the pattern for awhile and got it as close to acceptable as I can. Now I'm trying to set up the proper endplay on the wheel bearings. However, the axles and bearings go into the housing too far to get any endplay. If I set them up with no shims, there is almost 1/16" endplay on each side. I understand that there would be a thrust block separating the axle shafts in an open diff but I don't remember seeing one in the old Powr-Lok unit. The Auburn just has a cross pin that I assume the axles are supposed to bottom out on? Has anyone set one of these up with an Auburn? Am I missing something? How are you supposed to set proper end play if the axles go into the housing too far?

Powerlocks used a “thrust button” that mimicked the “thrust block” used in an open differential with tapered axles. Might check with the manufacturer about this.
