Rear Gas Tank For A Cj2a

Looking for ideas for a under the floor rear gas tank
A good source for a DJ3A/DJ5 would be good but hard to locate.

You will have to cut out all the hitch stuff. I made my frame, so I designed it to accept a 78-86 cj 15 gallon tank. I then modified the tank to accept the in tank GM fuel pump for the 4.3. I have access panels cut into the bed for the fuel pump and stock sender for gas gauge. Lots easier than dropping the tank.

 

Yes, the "V" support will need to go and possibly move the crossmember forward a little. The DJ tank would be slick but hard to find. A plus is the body is removable at this time.

 

move the body then. buy whats readily available and new so you dont need to deal with rust.

make it all fit.

If you get rid of the underseat tank, you can drop the height of the seat if youre fat or if you just want a more modern seat that you don't have to look OVER the top of the windshield at stop lights.
