MuzikP, if you post some pictures of your housing I might be able to help you identify what components were used to build it. I’ve built quite a few high pinion rears and fronts in different configurations.

This is what I have for pics. I can take others if it would help. I thought it was a front axle out of a 78ish F250 but that doesn't seem to match up.

Are the tubes 2 3/4” outside diameter or larger? If larger most likely a ‘78-‘79 Ford 1/2 ton where the tubes were completely replaced. ‘77 and earlier had 2 3/4” tubes and the radius arm “wedges” were welded on. ‘78-‘79 had them cast as part of the tube.

Interesting this came up, I was just wheeling my 5 this weekend on a fairly rough trail, and noticed the axle shafts sounded like they were banging back and forth. The setup I have is the Warn internal spline hubs (originally used on the front of a 44 with 30 outers I had), straight 19x27 spline axles, Warn premium internal spline hubs, and M30 spindles that I machined to fit the housing. I am pretty sure they do not have a snap ring, otherwise the shafts wouldn't slide out through the spindle. Also, I have always used an inner axle seal ('73 K20 is the application) to keep the oil in, and pack the wheel bearings as usual. And the shafts have the seal surface on them for that reason. This has been in my jeep for 15 years with having never noticed the shafts making any noise, so I'm not sure what's going on, maybe time for a look. I have a power lock, btw, and it makes no noise on the road.

I can't tell for sure from the pictures but if it does not have a spring pad cast into the carrier then most likely a '78/'79 1/2 ton Ford front carrier. Not sure on the tubes but the brakes look suspiciously Ford to me.
