I need a longer shift lever for my D18 transfer case! If I could just install a lever similar to the transmission shifter, I would be a happy jeeper. It is a pain in the seat bucket to reach way down there to shift the t-case. Seems that I could find a substitute shifter out of an old pickup or something. Anyone have any success at this?

I assume you have a single stick D18, if so, I know what you mean plus it's hard to tell what position the case is in. I haven't seen a longer stick to replace the stock single lever. someone out there may have made one up or you might consider converting your case to the twin stick setup. Lot easier to operate and easier to reach.

Shift rails, front output housing, new gasket and seal kit, pivot pin, anti rattle clips, shift knobs, and shifters. Can be had from an earlier CJ or Scout, Willys wagon/pickup. I also sell a kit when I have enough pieces, which I think I do right now, for $65 plus shipping. That includes reconditioned and painted housing (read hot tanked, inspected, glass beaded), reconditioned sticks, new pivot pin, new anti rattle clips, new knobs, and polished shift rails. Also comes with new gasket and seal kit. PM me if interested. Nickmil.

Thanks for the advice. I am not considering the twin stick at this time, but I'll keep it in mind. My current program is to enhance the stock performance of the CJ to arrive at a stable and dependable hunting and general offroad platform. In fact I lack only a functioning fuel guage to be 100%. The enhancement of the transfer case shifter is a move to make my use of the CJ a little easier, so its not a "have to" its a want to. That being said, if I screw up the shifter then I'll be contacting nickmil for the twin stick kit!
