    They really make life better.

Argh, I've nearly done the same but not bad enough for a permanent scar. That had to hurt.

I have not done that myself. I'm imagining there is a steel ring pressed in to hold the rope seal. It seems like you'll need to tap that out with a brass drift and the new rubber seal would fit in the same spot. Again, I haven't done it myself.

Yes, the exhaust tattoo me but you can barely see it. I knock the retainer that held in the rope seal it came right out. So the bolts are clean everything is painted and gaskets glue on all I need is the rest of my parts. I can not believe I went to the part store which I very seldom had to do and they would not give me my dealership discount they said I have to work there. I went home a priced just the stuff from Amazon sealer and J B weld I could have got it from Amazon for $12.00 cheaper. That's the first time in 43 years I did not get a discount. The sad thing is that the stuff I had dry up after 3 years of being retired. It's not money it's the principal. That was only a few perks working at a dealership is free supplies. I try another part shore.

This was the first time I ever put a front seal in from the backside. Do they make one that goes in the front otherwise the front cover has to come off. I cannot believe Chevrolet kept using the rope seals for as long as they did. In the old days, all I did to replace was doing the bottom crankshaft and packing the upper. When they went to the one-piece seal that solved a lot of oil leaks.
