Windshield Fitment

I apologize if this has been covered before...searching didn't yield an answer for me.
Are the windshield frame dimensions the same for a 74 as they are for a 65? I haven't found any place that can give me the dimensions of both. I seem to recall, that someone replaced an earlier windshield with a later intermediate frame to gain some more visibility on their CJ-6. Just looking at a bunch of pics, it looks like the only difference is the glass height at the top edge. Is this true? Are the outer dimensions of the frame the same? Thanks in advance folks.

 

The outer dimensions of the frame and angle are the same ‘55-‘75 CJ’s and the M-38a1.
There are several variations in the glass placement and dimensions however.

 

Thanks. That helps a lot. For that frame layout, I think I've only seen 2 distinct glass setups, the narrow one in earlier versions and the one with the raised top edge. Are there more than that, that I should be aware of?

 

There is the top mounted wiper style. Glass is different with a flat top. there is the bottom mounted wiper style with flat top glass, only used for a very short time (1-1 1/2 years), there is the bottom mount wiper curved top glass used roughly '68 until the end of this style of windshield frame in '75. On the M38a1 there are top mounted wipers with split glass windshield. Then there is the safari windshield that tips out. There are various military variants as well like the ones that are cutout for the recoilless rifle used on M38a1. All of these windshield frames will interchange on '55-'75 CJ's.
