I have some vibration in Lulu, at higher speeds (over 50 or 55). The rear driveshaft angle is fine, so I'm thinking it might be the trans and t-case mounts. I was looking around last night, and noticed that my t-case mount is not the same as what I thought... It doesn't mount with the large doughnut like pictured below.

Instead, there is an "L" shaped bracket that it attached to a square rubber isolator inside the passenger frame rail. I have not been able to locate this part on the Krage website. Anyone have any advice on this?

I'm not 100% sure there's anything wrong with mine. I didn't really inspect it yet. I was just looking around at what it would cost to replace it if I needed to.

I actually have an earlier "doughnut style" cross member in the parts stash - I might convert over, if my current mount is shot.

Tim, mine has the same setup. turns out the rubber mount to the frame is an early 4 cyl engine mount. I bought and isntalled one when I did my TC. don't have the PN but it came from Krage.

when my mounts were gone i had a problem with the whole engine/trasmssion/xfer case torqung over when starting out from a stop.... which inturn pulled the accelerator linkage on the carburator without me giving it more gas. it was a fun little "controlled" lurching everytime i started out. of course, my engine mounts were shot at the time too. maybe it they were better it would hold tings off until 50 or so??

i do know my cherokee went through the whole death wobble thing until i got my tires rebalanced. maybe the ties are a little of and causing a shimmy at 50 (which is where all my trouble would start). it's no fun, and it takes time and money to track the little things down. hope ya find it on the first try.

Mine too. It appears that the factory used the 134 engine mount as the later t-case mounts... Very strange.

If I wasn't chasing this vibration, I would have never even looked at mine Dan... If you don't have problems without one, I wouldn't sweat it...

I see. Your logic makes sense...

That was one of the last things I did on the '74 - hook up the t-case mount. For some reason, I over-looked it on the shelf of cleaned and painted parts.

Dan if yer gonna be fabbing up something, I have most of the pieces of the rubber puck assembly. I bought it new and didn't use it, don't know if I have all of it but you're welcome to make something out of the rest.

Mine was one of the strange S-shaped brackets that was used to account for the offset when a V6 was used initially. I drilled a hole in my crossmember so I could use the old style mount like the first picture.
