If it were me i'd replace everything. Timgr's suggestion of just replacing whats bad if you do'nt have the $ is ok, but i do'nt want to have to take things apart twice. It once took me 3 hours to dig out a pilot bushing (tried all the methods), but it was worth it. Also i would have the flywheel turned just incase. When do you plan on taking it apart again? Doing it all now = piece of mind and years of trouble free service.

RE pilot bushing: I hope it comes out easy enough. They loan out a pilot bushing puller attachment and slide hammer at auto zone for free.

I thought I would post some part numbers for reference:

I got a Luk clutch set from my local Napa, Luk part number 01-029 ($170). This Napa is an independent franchise that chooses to offer Luk clutches, so I would bet many Napa's don't have them.

The set comes with a pilot bushing, but I am using a Timken bearing, PB-656HD, instead that was $6 at Auto Zone.

I agree with Patrick. Luk is as good as they get. The last clutch I bought, I got from www.dialaclutch.com
The pilot bushing/bearing is too cheap not to replace. I just replaced the bushing in my '77 for $2. Cost me more to go get it than it did to buy it. I used the grease/hydraulic method for removing the old one. Worked pretty slick.

I've heard about pushing it out with grease, but I am hoping the slide hammer and pilot bushing removal attachment I rented will work well. I've already employed too many Rube Goldberg tactics while doing the transfer case and tranny rebuilds...

The notes that came with my project said it has a 12 inch heavy duty clutch in it. Does that make sense?
