I have been slowly restoring a 1964 Jeep CJ5. It has not been driven much over the past 10 years or so. At this point, the engine is running nicely. I had it out today and drove it around the neighborhood. After about 20 minutes or so of driving stop and go, the brakes seemed to lock after stopping. Does anyone know specifically what would cause the brakes to lock like this? I was still able to get her in the garage but there was lots of friction...no noise though. I have not done anything to the brakes yet. Return springs?

    Thanks.

Since it's been sitting for a long time could be one or more of several things. Front flex hoses bad inside and not letting fluid return after the brakes are released, sticking wheel cylinder(s) or master cylinder, dirty or greasy linings sticking to drums, adjustment although probably the least chance of it being the cause.

Try carefully cracking the lines at the MC and see if that relieves the pressure. may be that your residual valves in there are sticking. Eye protection and gloves obviously a must...
