When I bought our JEEP I thought the 4th transmission stick was for a PTO, but from looking underneath I realize it has an overdrive unit on it. How does this work? Which postion should I leave it in while driving?

The overdrive will raise the ratio that the transmission is in by 25%. it can be either in or out as you drive. it is designed so that it can be used in all gears including reverse.

you can split shift as sink says in any gear. e.g first gear is too low around the neighborhood and second is too high so i use 1st with the overdrive in the high position, sort of a 1st and a half, (stick pushed toward the firewall as in the sticker in the last post by mop) make sure that you use the clutch when you shift the od from high to low or low to high just like you were shifting the regular transmission shifter.

    enjoy.
