Factory Rear View Mirror

Roy, is that the stock mirror bracket, or did you have it plated? I had my replacement bracket plated, but didn't know if the Tux had a plated one from the factory or not.

 

Is that mounted according to the kit instructions? Does it get in the way of the windshield tie down strap (or do you not keep one on)?

 

Roy/Beachbums mirror is in the correct location. The early 4cyl Tuxes could have either black or chromed mirror mounts. My original '64 was painted, and another '64 Tux has chromed.
I never had an issue with the strap interfering with the mirror as it was doubled over and short when not being used. I remember buying a replacement strap that was too long, so I just left it off.

This pic, just a pic I found, also shows the off-center mounting option. Kinda makes practical sense being closer to the driver...

 

When I replaced my rusted out windshield frame the off shore re popped was awful. I welded it all the way around, filled in all the unused holes, moved the foot loop to center to match the one on the hood, and made a mirror mount with two studs welded it so the mirror was in the middle. It looks original but it isn't, no one ever notices, but you guys would. Nice Jeep in the picture, Thanks. Good Luck.
