New tires arrived yesterday so I threw them on. I wanted to try them out so I headed to my testing grounds. It's been a few months since I've had this on the road and dependability has plummeted since then so I was not sure if it'd make it the 12 mile round trip. Anyhow, made it to the testing grounds and drove around. At first glance, I'm very happy with the performance of these tires. As an added bonus with no wheel weights and at 50 mph there's no noticeable shaking or wobble.

My first potential copilot got to take their first ride and immediately complained about the mass of wires running around the floor, rattles, squeaks, bangs, rough ride, etc., and at the end, their final words were, "You want to race this?" Later on, I had to remind them how I reclaimed this thing from rotting into the earth and brought it to a somewhat drivable state using both wore out parts and questionable techniques. He might've bailed on me and his wife is completely against this copilot situation. :rofl:I'm sure they'll eventually come around.

Good news the hand throttle works great! Tooling along in 2nd with the T18. Video doesn't show it but that's a decent grade. Oh and you can drive around in 86° weather for a half hour with the fan unknowingly off and not get above 195° :D

So it's not that bad. No chipped teeth, no metal in the pan. Intermediate is good no slop. Output bearing def. shot. Both output bearings, new seals and speedi sleeves for the yokes on order. New brake shoes ( don't know why, things never work anyway)
This thing likely another victim of being rebuilt and then sitting around too long without oil.

Not in my garage but this morning the glass guy showed up at work and put a new windshield in my CJ5. The 46 year old windshield was so scratched driving in the dark was a game of driving via braile when heading towards other headlights. The light would dazzle you.

Colorado prep. I installed a new 7pin, breakaway and battery on the 22' gooseneck. Hornswaggled Geoffreyl into going through the brakes and bearings. Cheap date just wanted me to get his tab at the bar , not sure who gets the better deal there...

Got this D18 kit off Rock. USA Standard gear. Koyo bearings ( made in Japan), gaskets have made in USA on them  it only costs like $76 with my discount code. Only has to last a week, bet it will be fine longer than that. Better than $100 for just two bearings and races.

    Go get 'em , Rich.
On another note......I, myself, never thought we would see the day that we welcomed Japanese parts . Time does change things & now I'm confident that they are much better than that other manufacturing behemoth.

I opened an electric branch cutter, on battery, it was broken and then lot of very small parts went out, small balls teeth,... I'll contemplate and then probably drop to the waste.
In your case it is not microscopic so maybe you can re assemble, good luck to you.
