Floors are rusty. But that is no big deal. I am just glad most of the Tuxedo Park stuff is still on the Jeep. Jeep will take a lot of work for sure.

Thank you for posting all the pic's for us, (y)
(Interesting location someone placed the license plate light holder)
Great that you are saving the Tuxedo Park from falling victim to the scrap yard :)

Has anyone found other vehicles that used the Tuxedo parts? I have read somewhere that the bumpers from a commando are very similar.

I have heard that too. I have been trying to track down the Tux bumpers for a while, the PO took them and other parts off, bugger!!

That is a great find to have so many original parts still intact, especially for the price. Don't sweat the '65 title as most Tuxes of your vintage were titled as 1965. Mine is 37 units before yours and was also titled as '65 when my dad bought it new. Many of these were on dealer lots for a long time until they finally sold off.
In reply to the question of the rocker graphic, as Howard stated, these were done sometime later and are not a factory item. The exterior should be Presidential Red with only the raised "JEEP" name and a "4 wheel drive" tailgate stencil in white.
The Tux looks quite complete as far as the unique parts. That is the correct license bracket/light, but it is supposed to be mounted on the center of the tailgate. You should see four small holes, two on the raised rectangle and two just below, for mounting it. Use the original hole as a pattern to get the holes in the correct location on the new gate. The two lower holes need screw spacers to make it fit right.
Your black seat covers are original and can be used for patterns for new ones. Your Jeep should have matching rear fender pads, spare tire cover, and a black pinpoint vinyl top per your 227 trim code.
The chrome bumpers on a Tux are unique as they mount with only one bolt at each frame rail on the front face only. The chrome Commando bumpers are exactly the same shape and size, but use an additional two bolts per side, top bottom, as well as the face. The odd square hole should be on the left side (front) and is for the license bracket. I have to verify which side the blanked hole is on for the rear bumper.
The dash grab bar was chrome if it came from the factory, but not all Tuxes came with grab bars. They did come with the chrome mounting bolts filling the holes. You black bar was likey a dealer item added after delivery. By the way, nice unmolested dash!
Those look like Warn Lock-o-Matic hubs up front, a nice period piece that likely were from the factory. Most early column shift Tuxes came with them. Hang on to the side steps and the Hall 701 tail lights as those are both hard to find items.

You have enough parts the put it all back together, most of the TP parts are there. Nice dash, no one has drilled it full of holes. the license plate holder is there, but should be in the middle of the tailgate. The bumper can be fixed, lots of good stuff. It would be worth the restoration. Good Luck with it.
What Donny said x2, I think I saw re-popped bumpers that were close at KW, not sure, but someone is making them.
If you put that hitch below the drawbar it will give you more room to hook up to the ball. I put bumperetts on the back of mine and put the rear bumper on the front, as my front bumper was messed up from a plow.

Just noticed the Vin plate has been removed, it should have rivets in it not screws. Means nothing to me, but you could get hassled about it.

No, the philips (not stainless) screws are correct and original holding the vin tag on. ALL Willys Jeeps of this era and earlier use screws.
I have a sheriff out to verify the vin on a Jeep I brought in from out of state (Florida law) and he refused to complete the identification due to "vin tampering". I showed him four more Willys, all with the same fasteners, and he signed off.

The tail lights are in bad shape. They have a lot of rust. The one on the passengers side is pretty much beyond repair. I am getting ready to start by getting it running, which should not take a lot. Then I am going to pressure wash the entire jeep and get started on making the repairs. It will be a lot of work, but I really like the look of the tuxedo park.

Wow, I thought mine were wrong, in Michigan that can get you in trouble, I put drive in rivets in mine so it didn't look like I took it off when I painted it. Good info, thanks for setting me straight. No one has noticed one way or the other.

Same here Rick. Was sure happy to find out that that was the correct way of attaching for the VIN plate.

No sadly mine does not have the holes in the glove box door. Now that would be something to find, a jeep used in an presidential parade. I wonder how many were used in the parade and how many they can document as being used in the parade.

I bought a dash from a member. The dash was for a column shift and it came with the plaque. I think the plaque is the only way. From what I have read there were 30 floats...

I've never actually seem one of the Presidential Jeeps in person, but met someone that had one back in the late 1960's.
His was white, and thats how we met him, riding with my dad in our identical (other than the plaque) white w/red top Tux. He said that red, white, and light blue ones were used in the Johnson parade. He assumed ours was one too, but its not.
