I have located a Tuxedo Park Jeep. It appears to be all original except for the missing hubcaps. I have done a lot of research on the vin numbers and what the Tuxedo Park model means. I went today and the plate on the drivers firewall is 8322 114XX. The hood emblems say that it is a Mark IV . The owner has the title and it says that it is a 1965 model. The paint code is 226 and the trim code is 227. everything looks to be original as the jeep is in rough shape. After looking at the VIN production numbers on the internet, it looks like this 114XX is from an earlier model. Am i missing something.

Can this Jeep be a 1965 model?

Short answer appears to be yes, if they came with the F134 engine The vin decodes as follows:

    83 - Universal Body
22 - Tuxedo Park Mark IV
    1 - ?
    1 - Left Hand Drive
    4 - F134 Engine
    XX - Sequential number

See this thread: !! See this thread for Serial Number or VIN questions !!

Depending on what the sequential serial number is will give you an idea of what year it was made.
I'm sure someone on site will chime in and give you more information.

The Tux serial numbers are a bit more elusive than regular CJ5's. Starting in 1964, they were their own separate model, hence the 8322/8422 prefix. The serial numbers are out of sequence with regular CJ5's.
The Tux you are looking at is technically a 1964 model as it was built in June 1964, but it is not unusual to have it titled as a 1965.
I have #8322-11400 which my dad bought new in 1965 and is titled as a '65, so the one you are looking at was made just after mine.
Paint code 226 is Presidential Red.
Does this Tux still have the column shift intact?

I have just purchased the Jeep and am going to pick it up on Wednesday. It is in decent shape . The Jeep has both chrome bumpers, hood badges, chrome hood hinges , chrome windshield hinges, chrome fuel cap, chrome light on license plate bracket, chrome tail lights. It has the column shifter intact. the front and rear springs are the correct 2 stage type. Bench seat is there but upholstery is shot. Pretty much only thing missing are the hubcaps. The motor is complete and turns freely.

I will post some photos of it when I pick it up.

    Oh man that's awesome!! Congratulations!
Having both bumpers and the rear license plate light is huge! Those are the hardest to replace! eBay has the dog dish hub caps come up frequently. A good complete set will cost you at least $200 US. Can't wait to see your pic's.

The Tuxedo Park actually had "deluxe" full 15" turbine style hubcaps unique to the Tux that are really hard to find. I still need one more myself. The dogdish hubcaps were used on many Jeep models such as Wagoneer and Commando and are much more common.
Congratulations on finding a mostly complete example as most Tuxes "lost" most, if not all, the unique parts over the years. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I know what was original on these early models.

I have a 64 Tux I got by accident, I never heard of a Tux when I bought it from a friend, who bought it from another friend that had it for 27 years. The body had been replaced with a 71, but all the Tux parts were put on it except the tail lights. I bought it from my buddy and traded the plow for all the left over parts. Donny the guy that had it for years gave me everything he had including the Tux title and vin plate. I restored it back to original except the column shift, which I kept just in case. I like to call it a Tuxedo Park Custom, but I guess it is really a clone. Good luck with your Tuxedo Park, they are cool.

Here are the photos . The front bumper was removed but with the Jeep. This jeep also came with a new in the box Jeep Windshield Frame and a New tailgate as well. The title says that it is a 1965 model. This jeep is a little rough but I think it was worth the $600 I paid.

I do have a question about the graphics that are on the side of the Jeep. I wonder if they are original or a later addition to the Jeep.

I don't think you paid too much, the new ws frame & tailgate are probably worth almost that much alone.

How are the floors in it? If they're anything approaching solid then you got a bit of a deal.

IMO the graphics would be late 60's - early 70's add-ons.
