Does anyone have any tips for cleaning a wiring harness? I'm rebuilding my 75 CJ5 and about have the body ready for paint. I need to start getting ready for the rebuilding phase. Any help appreciated.

its all depend on the condition of the wire. Sometime the wire's getting dry and they aren't good to use anymore. Sometime just playing with old wire can damage them. You will need to find the wiring for you jeep year, it help a lot.

Or you could juste start with a fresh painless wiring harness, all new wire and make for you're application.

I took all the tape off, checked everything out then took a rag with some lacquer thinner on it and cleaned off the wires then retaped

Spray electrical contact cleaner perhaps? Available at pretty much all flaps.
