Stock was a hex bolt with a built in washer. Same as the ones for the floor pan.
I used shallow headed stove bolts on mine as I like the look better.

I used 1/4 x 20 stainless hex bolts with built in washers. They look great and hold the dash up like theyre supposed to!

Keep in mind this is restoration section folks which means that which was delivered from the factory or the dealer.
Original were a hex bolt that had a recess in the head, and an internal shakeproof lockwasher built into the bolt. I may have some still around I could take a pic of. Will have to look.

Correct. Cadmium coated I believe, or similar.

The originals were dull kind of grey, more like zinc coated. Didn't have time to check today but hope to tomorrow.

    Hey Nick quit Looking,

Just happened to have these near by............1/4x20x.750 overall and .562 under the head...........and yes they were a cheap zinc coating of some sort , but these got chromed years ago.............I'm sure if you looked around the likes of Eastwood or Hemmings you could find the folks that still make this hardware for the Collector Car Community.....

What year did the dash get bolted in? My 61 has the dash welded on.

There was a thread here not long ago about a welded dash. It is unusual.

Like PeteL said there was a whole thread on this very thing. I personally believe it may have to do with whether the Jeep had a factory installed hard top but have nothing concrete to base that on. The Jeep on the left in this picture had a factory installed hard top and a welded dash, from the factory, no holes to bolt it in. The threaded holes were in the cowl to bolt it on however.

This is the top that came off that Jeep

Mine did come with a hard top. I wasn't sure if it was factory or not. I got rid of that heavy thing within the first week I got the jeep. That was 1978. Can't keep everything, but looking back, it might have been worthwhile.
