I have a 1974 Jeep CJ5 with the three speed and Dana 20. Does anybody know what types of pto was available for these? Was there more than one kind? I have found a Ramsey PTO that came of a CJ5 Dana 20, it has both the front and rear drive shafts but it is the kind where both turn when the single lever is engaged. There is no rear output with it and I was wondering if there is a rear output for this that will allow use of standard PTO driven equipment like mowers and pumps? If this PTO can't be used for that is there one that can?

    Thanks,
    Aubrey

do you know if that pto can be used for farm equipment. i saw that ramsey made two different styles for the dana 18 one with a twin-stick and one with a single stick. did they make the same two for the dana 20 or did they just make the single stick one? The two stick one said that it sould be used for belt and pulley type farm equipment on the rear pto. the single stick one said that the rear output could be used for "special uses." does that mean that you can use it with farm equipment or not? any help would be greatly appreciated

The one that fits the bottom of the transfer case is the only one available with the 3 speed transmission. The T-18 4 speed that was an option had a pto port in the side but did not allow power in. The one on the bottom of the 20 allows reverse and all the speeds of the transmission. If the one you found is not available and the one Kodiak had is gone, I know where there are a couple more. Some of these PTO's had a rear output, some didn't. They were designed for just what you asked, running mower decks, generators, etc., etc. Nickmil.

the one i found is on ebay. it is a ramsey for the dana 20 with the front and rear driveshafts. however it doesn't seem to have the part that goes on the back to attach the mowers etc, to. i can still buy it and will if the parts for the rear output aren't to hard to come by. i will post some pics of it so you can see what im talking about. it is the type with the single lever that engages the front and rear output at the same time. also how hard are these to install and what type of modification is needed to the floor pan of the jeep?

here are the pics of it. do i need any more parts to be able to use the rear output. i have a snow plow on the front so im not worried about the front output. the extra parts are a clutch pedal and a crossmember of a v8 jeep that come with it in addition to the driveshafts and the PTO

i just e-mailed the guy about the PTO and the driveshafts are for the transfer case to the axles not for the PTO. he said that it looked like it had been set up with a cable system rather than a lever coming through the floor. does anybody have any idea how the cabling would run and where it would go inside the jeep?

The cabling was just a standard PTO engagement cable designed for a multitude of applications. It had a mounting bracket that normally was mounted under the dash somewhere convenient to the driver. The cable is available at any tractor supply house. Nickmil.
