My 74 has good power to everything except to starter. Battery has good charge. Jeep runs fine when I jump start it by rolling down driveway and popping the clutch. Ideas?

    Starter switch/solenoid is bad.

Ignition switch or starter motor possible too, but starter solenoid is more likely.

Do you have a multimeter and know how to use one? Test that you have juice to the little (S) terminal on the solenoid when you turn the key to start. If not, it's probably the ignition switch that's bad.

If you do get juice to (S), connect the two big terminals on the starter solenoid with one of your jumper cables. If the starter runs, you need a new starter solenoid. If not, you have a problem with the starter.

I would highly suggest checking the engine to chassis ground. I've seen the exact same symptoms because of this. Remember the starter is a high amp draw device and a weak ground can allow low draw items to work ok but not the high draw items.

As above. Or possibly starter brushes worn out.

    Another good thought.
Sometimes a sharp rap on the starter can temporarily make it work. If so the bushings or brushes may be worn or sticking.
