APB of sorts, 29t 10s OD: Read if made recent order from Herm or bought second-hand

A package from Herm to me with 29 tooth 10 spline overdrive parts was not complete, missing the barrel gear (the planetary gearset).

The spider is a Mitsubishi or "metric" 10 spline and is not compatible with US 10 spline transmission tailshafts.
I have no idea if it will simply not fit a US tailshaft, or if it will fit and then cause future damage.

If you purchased a 29t 10s OD or a planetary gearset, and the planetary still has a saranwrap wrapper with a label on it, please look to see if it says "Mitz" anywhere. It will look fresh grey, unused.

To the best of Herm's knowledge he shipped the part. If it was stolen during shipping, then all Dana 18 owners should be aware should you have bought one from craigslist or ebay, etc in the past month (June 2014) or buy one forward from now.

However, the package I received was untampered. While the thieves could have been excellent at covering their tracks, there is another possibility: that it was mistakenly put in a different shipment. The part was with Herm for a while, so if you ordered a 29t 10s OD between February and June 2014, please inspect the planetary gearset.

Please contact me or post here if you find a match. This post is not any statement or accusation against Herm, I just want to resolve this and it occurred to me that earlycj5 might be the best community to put out an APB. I would greatly appreciate your help. You could save me hundreds if I don't have to buy a replacement, as well as protect some poor unsuspecting Dana 18 and transmission that its not designed for.

Hmmm, I wonder if I should have posted this in the Early CJ-5 Tech, instead of Flat Fender Tech... There's probably more 29t Dana 18s there. Oh well, I'll keep it here in my home flat fender sub-forum for now.

The 10 spline spider blank only fits a T-14 in Jeeps. So this is about the only forum that would look to run a 10 spline OD.

I am guessing this overdrive doesn't fit a jeep dana 18 . if so what does it fit . import :?

Fits Mitsubishi "Jeep" clone.

I just got one from herm around the time you posted this. I'll go check tomorrow. Mine was gray, un used.
