Can't tell which lift I have. 2 1/2" or 4"?

The PO lifted my CJ5. I like the set up but it's old and saggy. I replaced all 4 shackles, new oem in back and new HD shackles in front that are a bit longer. Unfortunately jeep still sits a bit rear high. Would prefer a bit nose high. Wanted to start with new front springs next, but how do I know if what is currently on there is 2 1/2" lift springs or 4" springs?
While we are at it, does anyone have experience running a small block spacer in front? Where to get them, what they affect, pros cons?
    Thanks!

First, DO NOT RUN A SPRING BLOCK UP FRONT. Dangerous and illegal in many states. Have you measured ride height? Park on a flat level surface and measure from the axle tube to the frame immediately above the axle housing. Another method would be to measure from the center of the wheel well opening to the ground.
What size tires do you have and how much room between the tire and top of the wheel well opening? That can also be a clue.

A block between axle tube and spring on a spring under setup will lower it. You could put a short piece of leaf spring (length of perch) in that position in the rear to lower it a touch. That's cheaper than raising the front more.

A 4" lift is a lot, quite noticable I'd think. Look for mods to other components to accomodate it.

    2-1/2" not so much

From middle of wheel opening to ground, it's between 39"-39 1/2" in rear, 36"-36 1/2" in front.
    31" BFG mudders on 15x7.
nothing seems to sit level, might just be a jeep thing.
aired tires evenly today and she is on a flat garage floor.

My measurements to same locations with 31x10.50 BFG A/T on 15x10, Rancho 2 1/2" lift arched additional 1 1/2" but may have come down over time:
    --Front 36"
    --Rear 38 1/4"
--Bottom edge of body at the center of the door opening (centered between front and rear wheels) 22".

I'm certainly over 2/1/2" and you're still taller than me so my guess would be a 4".

Shucks, I was thinking for sure 2 1/2", now not sure.
bottom edge of body middle of door I'm 22 7/8" right side, 23 1/2" left side.
im new to the lift kit transfer case locker thing, but wouldn't a 4" lift require other mods that I could check for?
BTW, thanks for replies and help!

This is what I'm thinking... Since it's *** high anyway, and I want it nose high, and I don't know what size lift is on it, would it be "ok" to order new 2 1/2" leaf springs for the rear?
if it's currently got a 4", the new rear 2 1/2" should make it sit the way I want. You guys foresee any issues I would have running less spring in the rear?

How much space between the front axle and the frame bumper? I'd expect at least 6" if it's a 4" lift. That's really up in the air for a CJ - you don't need a lot of lift to fit big tires typically, and the approach and breakover angles are already quite good.

Aside from the COG and body lean issues, driveshaft angles get out of hand. Your rear driveshaft is really short.

What's the advantage of pointing uphill?

Drivers side 4 3/4" from top of axle to rubber frame bump stop. Passenger side 5".
the more I dig into this the more I am seeing why I got a "good guy" deal.
really starting to look like a bent frame IMO. How can my passenger side rear be high but passenger side front low?
just put new shackles at all 4 corners this week, checked all tires.
not so much I want it nose high as I can't stand the stink bug look.

BTW, I would prefer a 2 1/2" lift any day, just don't know what I currently have...

1/4" difference is nothing. Jeeps lean. Search "Jeep lean" on this site for dozens of old posts.

Plus the frames under these Jeeps are naturally twisty and bendy in action. Stiff leaf springs, bendy frame is how they were built, starting with the WWII Jeeps. It's something of an anachronism today ... suspension for 4WD has evolved.
