My '70 has that same brass block that as far as I can tell is nothing but a distribution Tee. There are no internal switch components or proportioning valve components that I can discern.
What I found really interesting was the manner in which the 68-71 systems using the Lockheed-Wagner dual reservoir MC achieved a differential pressure in the front/rear brake systems. The MC uses a stepped bore, with the smaller bore feeding the front system and the larger bore feeding the rear.
A little reflection on Pascals law will show you that the smaller bore produces a higher hydraulic pressure for the front system than the rear, thus balancing the braking effort properly to prevent rear lock-up.

Folks who have replaced these MC with aftermarket MC using a straight 1" bore will lose this engineered pressure differential. Making a swap like this may call for installation of an in-line proportioning valve.

Sure that's not the other way around?
With a smaler bore on the mc your pushing less fluid compared to the larger bore moving the same distance. ??

Smaller bore in the m/c gives more pressure but less volume all other things being equal. Kind of an inverse proportion.
