Wheel Adapters from a Waggy to CJ.

Jr needs some tires and the Waggy's tires are fine and would be good for him this winter/till he can figure out what rims/tires to buy.

I have looked on line for wheel adapters to convert the 6 lug to the 5 pattern and came up with a few.

I'm not sure about these companies and wanted some feed back as far as recommendations are concerned on a company to buy from.

Any recommendations ?

P.S. what is the bolt pattern for a '85 Waggy (6x?) ?

 

Use the Wagoneer axles?

What wheels does he have now? I would spend the $20/wheel to have the good tires moved to his wheels.

6 on 5.5"

Wheels are cheap, compared to tires. And those are ugly, IMO.

 

Just giving him an option, but ya, I understand. Not even sure he likes them-I'm getting the info for him to decide/thought it would save him some money right now.

He was thinking of going to the Waggy axle but we haven't found a bolt on adapter kit. I told him to keep the axles in case etc.

 

Why go to Wagoneer axles? A lot of work to change to axles that wide, unless you just leave them full width I guess.

 

Ya, that is why we haven't done it yet-no time.

 

The Wagoneer axles work ok on a CJ - not too terribly wide. Only two inches wider than the CJ wide track axles. This has been discussed a lot here in the past. Their main problem is they come with terrible ratios, usually 2.73:1 or 3:31 with the towing package. Ok for a station wagon, but not really suited to a Jeep. Some years had the goofy vacuum disconnect on the front too.

 

The biggest issue is the front carrier is on the driver's side on an '85 Wagoneer and he needs a passenger side carrier.
Plus steering linkage modifications and the fab work to outboard the front springs.
Path of least resistance would be your suggestion to swap the tires to other wheels.
