I thought it was generally accepted that 'left' and 'right' were always from the direction the vehicle is facing. left is driver side, right is passenger.....unless youre in europe.

I agree totally!!!! When I disassembled my Jeep everything was stamped Driver/Pass by me, but then again the english have'nt figured out what side of the road to drive on yet.:D How the British and there colonies have managed to stay with there setup for so long is beyond me. Europe does not use right hand drive, only england and its colonies.

that was my thinking as well.

The direction the vehicle is facing.

Just because you face someone doesn't make their left right.

In Automotive right and left is ALWAYS determined sitting in the driver's seat. Nickmil.

The easiest way to remember this is that all American made vehicles are Left Hand Drive!!!
With the exception of the right hand drive postal vehicles.

The only reason you see those are for our postal service. Virtually every car we make where I work Sparky has a right hand counterpart, but they are not made or sold for the US market, only overseas. We make right hand drive Nissan Pathfinders, Maximas, Sentras and so on, we made right hand drive Ford Focus's, M Class Mercedes and so on.
