Identify this soft top...

I just gambled on an ebay soft top skin.

It came with a guys 80 CJ5 and he said it didn't fit and the measurements suggested that it may be for an intermediate.

Well its a few inches too narrow across the windshield and around 3-4 inches short along the tub. I've had it out in the 105+ sun and its not going to stretch enough to even come close.

It seems to be a NOS whitco with the AMC jeep products logo and a mfr date of 09/16/76

at the front, Its 56" at the snaps, 53" width of the plastic edge. The side curtain looks like it would fit a 32" tub before wrapping around the back.

My best guess is that this is a replacement top for a CJ3A or 3B, and not for a CJ5.

 

Don't know but it is a real nice looking top, what ever it fits.

 

What do the doors look like?

It didn't come with doors or any hardware. Just the top.

The doors you see in the background are correct for the intermediate. Got those separately.

The bows are from a salvaged late CJ5 with a super top?

 

I would say it is for an early CJ5 with shorter bows.
Also this post probably needs to be moved out of flat fender into one of the other choices.

 

Looks a little narrow at the windshield to be for an early '5. Maybe a 3A? Might get on the 3b page and check measurements of the windshield frame. That may shed some light.

 

I put it in flatfender cause I figured it was for a flattie with its 32" tub sides and narrower 53" windshield.
Seemed like these guys would know more about their tops than a CJ5 owner
The bows I have moved and adjusted for different heights and the top is still way too short front to back.
It seems like it would fit the CJ-3a/b 66" dimension from the windshield to tub rear. My CJ5 is 69"

 

Looks like a 3B top to me
