Hi. As the title notes I am re-assembling my transmission and t-case after rebuilding the T-90. On mating the two together in the frame there is about a 1/8 to 1/16th of a gap between the two. It appears as the rear bearing on the main shaft is bottoming out in the transfer case but it won't budge forward on the shaft either. Any ideas or suggestions from those who have done this more than my one time? I have the bearing spacer in there and that seems to be tight between the shaft and rear bearing.

    Thanks

    First, a T-18 is a Borg-Warner truck style 4 speed transmission. You should have a Dana-Spicer 18 (D 18).
Are you sure the bearing is the correct one and not too thick? Are you sure the bearing is seated fully against the spacer? Are you sure the plate that centers the bearing to the transmission is pressed in completely? It should be flush with the transmission case. Are you sure there is no debris or burrs keeping the bearing from seating in the transfer case housing? Are you sure the mainshaft is fully forward into the input shaft?
Any if these can cause the issue you describe. If you can post pics that would also be helpful.

All the way around or in one spot? All I can think of is the tab that anchors the reverse idler shaft- if it's not in exactly the right spot it interferes with the cases coming together.

not sure if the t-90 is the same as a t-14 but i had the little roller bearings fall out without knowing and when i tried to mate them back together, well lets just say some weird noises occurred while mating them up and it didn't want to come together nicely.
