I have an original "hard-locker" NoSPIN Detroit Locker in my 67 CJ5. The Jeep has an offset Dana 44 rear axle with Warn full floater kit and 19-spline axles. The Locker has 3.73 R&P. I realize that the Detroit Locker for 2.72 - 3.73 is no longer available. However, I am wondering if NOS parts are available anywhere.

The locker was installed in 1992 and has performed flawlessly until recently. I run 32" tall tires and a mild 231 V6. My son and I have performed all the diagnostic steps in the manual. With the axle elevated, we performed the steps holding both tires forward, and alternately rotating one tire backwards to disengage the locker. We must hold the left tire noticeable harder forward to prevent it from disengaging when the right tire is rotated backward. Also when the left side disengagement test is performed, it does not feel as positive as the right side.

The testing appears to verify the behavior I experience while driving the Jeep. Under straight line acceleration I hear the locker disengage, and the Jeep torque steers to the left.
Is it possible that the springs in the locker on the left side have broke or become weak? I have drained the fluid and removed the differential cover. There were no metal particles or flecks in the bottom of the differential.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like either the spring is weak/broken or the teeth in the locker side gear are rounded off/worn severely. Only way to know for sure is to take it apart.

Oh, and moved to proper forum.
