Can anyone tell me what years this heater is out of? My 70 CJ5 is cobbled with so many parts from a newer jeep that I am trying to figure out what I have. I am also thinking of replacing it with the Mojave heater to take up less space. As far as I know it works. the fan does but the hoses were not hooked up, just like about everything else on this thing.

    Thanks

Looks like a '72-'75 CJ heater. Had one in the '6.
I believe the '76 and newer had the fan motor protruding into the engine bat through the firewall.

Thanks Nickmil, I was thinking that is what it was from, but was not sure because I have a whole lot to learn on Jeeps yet. It has a newer center mount 44 in the rear and a D20 transfer case too. Probably out of the same jeep.

Change in the heater design is mid-year in 1977.

    It's definitely the '72-mid77 heater.

Thanks for the clarification Timgr. I couldn't remember if the transition was into the later CJ's for sure or not.

Tough to find a decent aftermarket heater that not only provides some heat but also provides it where you need it.........

The Mojave like the Summit will provide heat but just out of a few misdirected ports...........I have been messing with this Idea for a while and have taken a Summit heater as a base unit and built a plenum under it to direct flow including an adjustable defrost vent. More to follow when its done.[IMG]
