Installed a new tach and I'm wondering what my redline should be, 1st high, 2nd high and 3rd. I seem to be running too low - around 3200 in 3rd. I'm guesing my tach is only reading "half" of the actually rpms. And if it isn't is there a way to make a tach output X500 instead of X1000 rpms (just so I can get a better sweep of my tach)?
    I followed the instructions ( http://hp.autometer.com/instruction_download/instructions/320h.pdf )
and cut the brown wire for a 6 cyl, but I wonder if the odd fire makes a difference. I mean I can live with it I'd just like a larger sweep.

    Thanks for the info.

Great thanks. I've now got to find a way to re-calibrate my tach to read X500 rpms. I hope its possible. I'll give Autometer a call and see what's up. Thanks again

Why not just buy a tach with the sweep you want? I run a 6000 RPM sunpro in mine, but you can buy them as low as 4000 rpm
