I'm about to pull the trigger on a MSD 5200 and had a few questions.

    1. Will the MSD 5200 be compatible with my dauntless oddfire?

    2. Do I need to get the pertronix igniter before I instal?

    3. If this box works for my odd fire what would be the best spark plugs to get for it?

I hope this box works because its only going to cost me $50.:D

you can check the MSD website. Last I recall they had a great section on which boxes work on what application...

    no.

    What are you using now?

There is a specific MSD box for the Oddfire 225. Has to do with dwell time according to the folks at MSD. I'm not an engineer so I don't pretend to understand all the intricacies involved in it.

:)The 5200 is an early entry level Ignition system that was built in the early 2000's and has "NO" current MSD support................This was also an "EVEN FIRE" Ignition only and will not work on your odd fire 225.............Save your Money!:D

:)There are several............but first off what do you have for a Distributor? And is your motor just stock?............perhaps the use of a later HEI type Distributor is all you really need. A big improvement over stock.........There are several manufactures of these in the aftermarket world like .........CRT Performance and a host of others...............Google Buick 225 Oddfire Ignition and start reading..............Keep in mind the later HEI Distributor will require some removal of metal at the manifold for clearance.:D

Yeah I've got a stock engine. My plan was to get a pertronix igniter paired with the box. I visited one of our forum members and this is what he had on his oddfire. He said when he installed both of these components he got a better start up, better fuel efficiency and response.

:)10-4............On the Odd-Fire Ignition systems..........There is a hundred ways to get there and not one that may be perfect for all applications. There is a wealth of Info on the internet both on this site and others that have taken that subject in all different directions and I would first suggest that you educate and understand the differences and as you mentioned If you have someone that your working with here or offsite by all means continue that process..........:D

You can contact MSD directly and they will tell you what model # you need. If that's not possible I have one still in the original box buried in the garage I can get the part # from.
