Dana 44 diff cover, all the same?

I picked up some diff. covers off of Craigslist and I noticed that the new ones have a flat spot in the center of the cover where the ring gear radius is. The current leaking cover on my 75 doesnt have that flat spot on it, my question before i go to work on it is, will the ones i got fit? They came off a new Rubi, if that makes a difference. Thanks for any input!

 

i used a diffcover ment for a newer dana 44 and it fits on my '69.

 

The flat spot is for tie rod clearance on the front. Many Chevrolet front 44 covers had that as well. Will fit any standard low pinion 44.

I should say there are stamping differences and the fill plug location are different between high pinion and low pinion, military cast covers and stamped covers. There are different thickness of the stamped covers, etc. but the bolt up to the carrier are the same on all but a few that had an axle disconnect. Dodge comes to mind on these.

 

I had to get a new 44 cover because my stock one wouldn't clear the case of the Detroit Locker.
