Oh - they must have gotten messed up when my photobucket messed up. I will get them back in there...

In the mean time, here are some pics from last night...poor quality, but they give you the idea...

And i bit the bullet and bought a welder today, nothing fancy, just a basic 115v flux core welder, should do what i need to get done...

And there is a reason for my maddness in cutting away the rot... mainly...one of the hat channels is in good shape - the other is just gone...so cutting out the rot as i can to start with - then planning on drilling out/grinding off all the welds that remain on the 1 good hat channel...so that i can re-use it...

Neat project, keep posting the photos here; sometimes PhotoBucket is real slow. I need to get my project up on this forum.

Yeah, thought about pulling the tub to do the metal work, but im kinda limited, i live in an apt with a 1 car garage, so there isn't really any room for me to do that - this summer we are looking at moving, and one of the requirements is at least a 2 car garage or shop - specifically so that i can have more room to work. But, i want to be able to drive it before we move....

Well, took some time this morning to do a little more work, not much but about 30 mins worth - hope to get a chance tonite to do some more...

I went last weekend to the local steel place, and they only sell 18 gauge sheet by the sheet, or with "extra" fees for them to cut it...so i asked what partials they had around, they had some 16 gauge so i bought that for 20 bucks...it is just enough to cut the panels i need... 30X48

So, i cut the drivers side rocker first, cut it a little big so that i can clean up the rocker itself and make it fit good before welding it in place...

I hope to get it all cleaned up and in place tonite (wish me luck there)

and i also cleaned up some more of the drivers side floor, thats the next panel to cut..and im gonna have to rig up some kind of a metal brake to fold the angles for good overlap...

This is my first real experience on body work/sheet metal fab, and there is a definate learning curve!R)

And yes, my garage floor is covered in dirt, trash and boxes...it'll get cleaned up eventually lol.

Ok, got some more work done this afternoon....welded in the patch panel on the Rocker side..

And started cutting the Floor panel....

My welding is not great, but that is a huge amount of spot welds lol. I have to go to the store and pick up some more cut off wheels for the grinder, but i hope to get that floor panel all cut out tonight so i can get the hat channel cleaned up and inplace for it....getting closer! :)

I'd pick up that cardboard before I did any welding and/ or grinding. I know it's too late, I'm just telling you what I'd do;)

That, or break out the marshmallows..

    ;)

    It can happen.
Bad part is, a piece of molten/ hot welding slag could drop under a piece of that cardboard and start smoldering, and you could be in bed asleep or gone by the time it really starts burning.

Well, got the floor all the way in tonight, cut the holes for the drain, drilled all the body mounts, got it all welded in. sprayed it with some rustoleum flat black just to coat it, and started putting stuff back together (was getting antsy to start it back up lol). so got it in and re-assembled, fuel tank back in, seat back in and fired her up...then decided i needed some more work...so cleaned up the welds on the rocker and skim coated some body filler, just to cover the welds. will sand it and prime it tomorrow...pics coming tomorrow!

Also, ordered a drag link and bell crank rebuild kit today, should be here next week, then ill get that all knocked out and she'll be on the road! YAY!

WOWZA! Ok, so, got the floors in....got it all re-assembled....and guess what...SHE LIVES! Albeit, roughly...over the last few months with me not starting her, she developed a nasty miss...but i pulled the plugs and wires, and found a bad connection...all fixed! I took her to the gas station this evening (its about 40* here) it was a bit chilly, and boy was it an experience. This was really the first time have actually "Driven" the jeep, other than when i first got it home...something i am gonna have to do is either get some of the pizza cutters (like i want anyway...) or go power steering...i think the skinny's will be up before ps.....she's a beast to turn, and i had a hard time figuring out weather to stay in 1st or shift to 2nd (2nd seemed mighty fast...need to get a speedo) Anyway, enough rambling, here are some pics!

Drivers Side Rocker, completely cut out and replaced...you can still see the dust from sanding up on the side of the cowl...

New floor on drivers side (full length), and a patch panel put in on the passenger side.

My new back seat...awaiting upholestery and clean up work...thanks BKD!

And last but not least, my little helper...Sammy, who will be 6 this next monday!

    Keep on Jeepin'!

So, after last night's jaunt, other than the fact that she steers like a tank, i figured out that there is a LOT of play in the steering, enough that she wanders all over the road....so i decided to take Tetanus apart again last night... i pulled the front fender off, and my bellcrank and draglink kits should be here via the brown santa tomorrow.... here are some pics!

Why is the passenger side front leaf spring shackel attached in front of the bumper and the driver's side front leaf spring attached behind the front bumper?

LOL. It's not. It's just the angle of the picture - the front bumper has latches on it for a tow bar - and in that picture above, it looks like its holding the shackle - i assure you it isnt :D
