Here's the info on my Jeeps:
1970 CJ5 Renegade I Lime Green
Built by Kaiser, March 1970
s/n 364613
1971 CJ5 Renegade II Baja Yellow
Built by Jeep Corp, June 1971
s/n 375391
Sorry it took so long to get this posted. I've been building a house and the Jeeps have been in storage.

Was told it originally looked like the Baja Yellow Renegade in the photos on this site. (Green, Orange and Yellow jeeps with woman on the bumper. Has a V6. Fenders and hood have been replaced, then painted white. Still lots of trace yellow behind the dash.

I assume this would be a Renegade II?

Will look for other numbers and try to figure out engine, drivetrain this winter. To busy driving in the sunshine now.

4. Factory Front Shackle Reversal (Yes/No) (Early CJ5's came with the front axle shackles to the rear)? Yes, reversed
5. Model 25 or Model 27 front axle? 25
6. Snorkel Cutout on hood (Yes / No)? Yes
7. Windshield Frame Configuration (top mounted wipers, bottom mounted wipers with top of glass flat, bottom mounted wipers with top of glass arched)? Top mounted
8. Large or small front turn signals? Small
9. Tapered or flanged rear axle? Tapered.
10. Underseat or rear mounted fuel tank? Under seat
11. Hood mounted reflectors, front fender mounted markers, no markers / hood reflectors? No markers
12. Windshield washers? No.
13. Single / Dual stick transfer case? Dual
14. Paint and Trim codes? Can't find 'em.
15. Battery box cover on cowl? Yes.
16. Bow sockets on rear body corners? Yes.
17. 12V / 6V? No electrical right now
18. Foot starter button / key start? Key start...may have been floor start at one point
19. Wiper (1 or 2) manual or electric? Has electric motors (on both wipers), but could be old aftermarket.
20. Hood safety latch / prop rod? Safety latch

Thanks, and no problem! I'll post the same info for my '59 CJ6 when I get a chance to write down the serial number. It's parked an hours drive from me and I don't get up to visit it very often . Glad to see the serial number matches the year it's registered under...serial even matches the title!

Welcome Gilly!

Looks like you are missing a few numbers from your VIN, should be 13 digits for your year. Assuming the last 6 digits are your serial number, your jeep was built in December of 1969 (1970 model year). First digits of VIN in all likelyhood should 8305014 or 8305015.

8305.017.357770...... a 69 but I dont know the month... btw on the title it is sporting a Montana Id number, instead of the serial number. According the the previous owner they couldnt find the vin/serial number, guess they didnt look in the engine compartment.

OK, so since I have the Jeep driveable again, I should contribute. My VIN is 8305 A 201146, I do not know the DOM, but it is a 1966. I'll see if I can find the old dash DOM placard and paint tag.
