I think you're looking at a part that doesn't move.

It might be best to just install it and hook your fuel line up and give it a try.

That makes two of us buddy :(

Do you have any such a thing as a dial indicator?

Seems to me that later F-heads came with a single acting pump after the move to electric wipers, that's what the '72 parts manual shows-

The arm should be equivalent between the various iterations.

I may be way off but I suspect the later single action fuel pumps looked a lot like the earlier single action fuel pumps on the inside.

but its the exact style fuel pump that has been on there for years and years. I will hook up the fuel pump, extend the soft line from fuel pump "in" side with the barbed fitting and run it directly to a gas can, see if that works and gets fuel.

    i have electric wipers.

As stated the dual action were only for vacuum wipers if you have electric wipers the single action should work. I have a single action with a spacer and it works fine. Although it would probably work without the spacer.

Some resistance should be felt when installing the pump. If I remember correctly, some pumps could be installed with the arm above
or below the cam. The arm has to be oriented correctly when installing or it will not work. You should be able to feel
the arm on the cam and in this case, the top of the pump should push back against the force of installing.

I'm at my wits end. I can manually pump it to get gas to the carb.

Pull the coil wire and get someone to crank it over while you look in the hole.
Is the lobe turning when the motor spins over? put a popsicle stick against the lobe and see if you can feel/ see the lobe go round and that it's pushing your stick like it would actuate the pump lever.
What's that mark I see on the pic you just posted of the pump lobe?
You need to make sure the lever is on top of the lobe before you try to bolt it down.
Kind of a PITA to fight the pressure of the pump, keep the gasket aligned and start a bolt in.
    If it's easy, you're doing it wrong:D

I don't remember there always being noticeable resistance when installing a fuel pump. The position of the cam lobe is going to make a huge difference.

Did you install the newest fuel pump today/this evening and it still not pump?

I am not sure what you posted has to do with this.

The pumps you have tried are evidently not correct. You have determined these pumps work when manually articulated, but after numerous tries, with at least two different pumps, you are not getting it to work.

Can you put some sort of paint/chalk on the pump arm, install it and turn it a few cranks and see if the cam is making contact with the arm.

Just seems like the arm on the pump isn’t being worked by the cam
