I would like to hear from anyone that has switched over to the wilwood M/C and the remote reservoirs. I have disc/disc setup and was looking for a better brake setup. What are you thoughts good, bad or whatever?

    Thanks, Julius

I have disc/disc on my 46 with a willwood and remote reservoirs located up on the firewall, there's nothing really to complain about other than the added clutter of the reservoirs.

It's not bad looking, but it's definitely more clutter. It's easy to check their level and refill, and they function very well.

I installed the MC and brake lines when the engine/transmission were out of the vehicle and the fenders/grill were off. Was easy to install, might be more difficult if the vehicle is intact.

2BB6E4ED-88FE-46CB-8FEE-B40A54932139.jpeg I put the R&P kit on my ‘59 about 9 ish years ago. I just removed it and sold it to a member here. It was still fully functional with no issues. I like the fact that drill 3 holes iirc and redid my lines and bleed the system. Very simple. Mine was disc/disc also. The bracket is the template. Here’s a picture of the reservoir’s on the firewall on driver side. Only reason I removed it is I’m going hanging pedals and power brakes. In full disclosure, I’m somewhat biased since I was peripherally involved in developing the kit. I installed the kit because my existing m/c went bad and I wanted to experience for myself installing a kit in my driveway like most people would. One of the easier conversions I have done.
Richard is still building and selling the R&P kit and can be reached at 503-557-8911 or RandPCustom4x4@outlook.com

Thanks, I have been speaking with Richard and told him if I go that route I would purchase from him.

I run Disc/Disc with the Wilwood M/C and remote reservoirs. M/C is great, but had leaking issues with several sets of the remote reservoirs. Worked with Wilwood for a while on the reservoirs. Finally gave up after painting the firewall for the 3rd time and made reservoirs out of billet.

Junkyard scrounger here. May not be directly helpful but late model Nissan Pathfinders use remote brake reservoir.

I have the willwood MC from Richard mostly because his frame mounting bracket for the wagon is nice and works well, and figured the remote reservoirs mounted up high would be nice - there is no removeable floorpan cover to check fluid level in the wagon, and accessing the frame mounted MC is difficult with the the sbcv8. Unfortunately, I also have had lots of leaky reservoirs and wasted paint - I just went through and tried yet again to get them to seal up as I had the pedal and MC out as part of other work - we'll see....If I knew how to make a decent reservoir myself i would.

I've had the reservoirs on my 46 for probably close to 10 years now, I don't think they have leaked. If they have, it's not been enough to hit the ground.

I didn't like the cheap reservoirs that came with it so I fab'd up something a bit Jeepier

This has been an on again/off again issue with the Wilwood remote reservoirs for years. The Hot Rod guys have had issues too.
There seems to be some variation in their manufacturing. If you assemble and they don't leak you are good to go. If you get a leaker, there is not much that can be done to stop it.
Wilwood sent me several sets, and we tried several assembly techniques but nothing helped the parts I had.

Been running the wilwood mc on Ted with disc/disc without issue for 10 years. When I had drum/drum and switched to disc/disc, it was so nice to buy a replacement mc and just bolt it in.

I have the RandP kit on my cj2a. The bracket is very high quality and fits perfectly unlikely many aftemarket parts. My only criticism is with the brake line outlets on the Wilwood master cylinder - they are located on the under side which has them coming out below frame rail level. Just seems like an unnecessary vulnerability to me.

I did not know that was an adjective. I like the word AND the reservoir. When will you start production?

Frankly it was *way* more trouble that it was worth to convert two thirds of a propane cylinder into a dual reservoir.

Do *Not* ask me how I discouvered DoT 5 brake fluid makes a dandy epoxy dissolver :steamed:

    Just don't. :(

I ended up fabricating my own base for the Wilwood remote clutch reservoir I'm using in my 3B because of my limited real estate. The only o-rings I found that really work with DOT3 (an ester alcohol) are the Viton versions.
