    I recently got one off ebay as well. Going to put it on my 4.3. 670 cfm sounds like a lot, but it's only going to flow what the engine uses, and since you can adjust it, it should work well.

    does that system comtrol the spark curve? if so, from what i have heard it isnt compatable with the oddfire because when the 2 cylinders fire close together, the system thinks the motor is speeding up and then there is a lag between the next 2 fires so it thinks its slowing down.
    i havent read it but i hope you didnt waste your money.
    if you can make it work awesome!

  8. Joel: You and I talked about this in another thread once. I can see no reason why they wouldn't work since they are not spark timed. The ONLY problem that I can see is "pooling" in the bottom of the manifold due to the OF pulses of the intake. But this unit is totally adjustable and you should be able to compensate for that. It's strange that no one has tried this before. It should work fine.

    Can't wait for someone to give it a try. :)

    It's just a carburetor, only more efficient in it's design. I can't see why it wouldn't work.
     
  11. Sparky: That's what I thought. I've had 2, one on my '87 rull Size Jimmy and one on my 92 Yukon.

    Can't understand why no one has tried these before. :?

    The injectors aren't timed to the spark so it "should" work fine. As far as I know the Holley uses the spark input to determine whether or not the engine is running and RPM. If I can't get it to work I'll just use it on my next project, or use it an a excuse to swap a SBC. :twisted:
    The only hitch I see is building the adapter to bolt in on the 2bbl intake. :rofl:

    The Pro-Jection uses tach signal (rpm), throttle position via a sensor on the throttle body, and coolant temp as signals. At least the early version that I have does. You can also get add on kits for closed loop operation via an oxygen sensor for that as well. Really don't see it as necessary and on the odd-fire may cause problems due to the odd exhaust pulses and the radical changes the o2 sensor would read. Don't know if it would make a difference but would be interested to see. The system I have is the old analog system so info may be out of date. Couldn't tell if you got the analog or digital system. I was going to put mine on the Race Jeep's 225 before it became scrap metal. Still sitting on the shelf. May put it on the 231 one of these days. Nickmil.

    The one I bought was used, and did not have a fuel pump. Does anyone know off hand what the max fuel pressure is for the input line of the throttle body? I would hate to blow out the throttle body unit. :shock: I was thinking of getting a frame mounted pump from a fuel injected car from the junkyard, but I'm not sure if a port injected fuel pump (60 psi) can be regulated down enough by the built in regulator on the throttle body. Or odes anyone know of a frame mounted throttle body injected fuel pump?

    I listed 2 part #s in the write up I did, sorry I dont have them handy right now, but the article should be in the tech section. The pump I went with was pre-set at 15psi. The Holley one I got was like 45 more bucks than the carter, but the carter is on like a 3 week back order :shock:

    Jason,

    I guess I should have clairfied myself. :shock: (big surprise R) ) I was refering to factory type fuel pumps. They can be had very cheaply, and usually last a long time. Some electric aftermarket pumps are not meant to run constantly. I will do a little more research and see what I come up with. I'm sure that there is a factory frame mounted fuel pump for a throttle body car, I just need to find which model.

    I believe the carter pump was like 85 bucks. And to me its nice to have the assurance of having a new pump, especially when doing a swap like this to FI, that way if you have any problems you can at least eliminate one thing. As for the factory mounted fuel pump on the frame rail, Im not sure, but i half way tried finding one myself but most were in-tank pumps. Im sure there is some way one of those could be adapted to work if someone wanted to take the time to mess with it.
