Just thought I would add an update - I have gotten confirmation from Professional Products that the Powerjection III will work with the 225. They state that it works fine on a V6 and that the tach signal from an HEI (or anything that produces a valid tach signal) the computer can handle and do it's processing on.

Does anyone know what kind of intake manifold or manifold adapter is required to mount the powerjection III to a 225 v6?

I spoke to Howell and Holley years ago. Howell said they didn't have any FI that would work. Holley said their Pro-jection might work, they weren't sure though, but it if it did it wouldn't work right.

I might get one if I can find out how to adapt the powerjection III to my 225 v6.

    I'm with Warloch:

You would most likely need to put an aluminum , square bore or spread bore 4 barrel intake on the 225 to mount it right. I put a holly projection on a 69 commando with the 225 around15 yrs ago and used a holly street dominator square bore intake. I adjusted the throttle position sensor a small amount and cut the fuel pressure down a little and it worked fine for the three years I ran it. It was one of the first projections that came out, an open loop system.

I took a look at the video on Professional Products site www.professional-products.com/EFI_3.php . The Powerjection III looks rather large. I know they say it will run on a 225 v6 but is there room for it and my DUI distributor?

Does anyone know the answer or have an opinion?

You need a square bore intake - Holley 4150 size replacement. You can download Instructions and Tech HERE for more info.

Looking at the pics in relation to things - it will be just a touch bigger than the TA470 I am running (4160 size), but should fit with no problem on my Kenne Bell Number One intake or a Offy Dual Plane (the two intakes I have).

The tech said to remember in EFI the CFM is the MAX flow it can run - this has no problems with leaning out based on the O2 Sensor. They also said that if I have trouble with the first startup - they would walk through some setting changes to start in Open Loop - then when it switches itself to closed in learning mode it should figure things out and adjust the next start values based on the run information it got.

You can get these from Summit if your interested as well - I am really going to look into it this winter and will 'should' be able to answer all your questions sometime about Thanksgiving (I hope) :)

I just saw this post, sorry it took me so long to hop on. I have had the ProJection on mine since about 2004. It was a really easy install and very straight forward. I have the HEI upgrade and tapped into the tach for the computer with no problems. The Jeep fires right up first try every time, idles great and I even took it down to Moab in April this year and ran trails for 3 days with zero issues as far as angles and running. The ONLY problem I am having is it seems to have lost some of it's power. I had a hard time keeping up speed on the slight hills on the highway going in to and out of Moab. That is my only complaint. It also passed Smog out here in Utah with flying colors. All in all I am super happy with the conversion and think it's just a timing or a setting that's causing the loss of power. Too much fuel? Not enough? It's been great. Like I said, sorry I didn't chime in before. If anyone wants pictures of any of it, let me know. Also, if you have any questions, hit me up, I would love to help if I can.

He was running the 502-20S 2D ProJection Kit with the optional Closed Loop. Talked about taking it down to the 400 cfm by changing the injectors, but don't know if he did.

We talked a while back on how his worked for him.

is it really worth the two grand for this conversion, though, for the kit and manifold? Seems like you could convert to a more modern engine with fuel injection and more power overall for the same cost, and have more aftermarket support, too. Don't get me wrong, this definitely looks like a sweet setup, just wondering if it's really worth the extra 2k. How much increase in hp and torque will you get with this kit? or does it just increase drivability?

It's all a matter of desire. I could keep the TA470 I have, it's worked pretty well and delayed my 'desire' to go to FI for a few years. I now have a couple other projects I could put it on, so now is a good time for me.

My real desire to go to FI on the 225 has to do with:
    - Lazy on my part - when I go from 7K to 13K + and back in a day, it can impact the performance of the jeep.
    - Driveabiltiy - I grew up being able to flutter the pedal when needed on steep angles, work a clutch, compensate for the Alt change - my wife didn't and I want her to be able to turn the key and go if needed.
    - Curious - Just want to see if I can make it work and explore some options.
    - Hobby - It's a hobby for me. It will never go away, and I hope to live long enough to contaminate my grand kids with it :) Then they can have the toys.

Never used any of the Holley setups, but the FI I put in the 3B was a good deal more than 2k and I would certainly do it again. It made a new machine out of it. No more hacking at extreme angles and suspect it would even run inverted until it siezed from no oil pressure. Totally immune to at least 7k elevation change and it would likely work fine over twice that amount. It turned a lot of fancy footwork (as per Warloch) into a pleasure drive. Can't beat them. The only down side is the expense.
