Scott's '66 Continuous Modifications.

It looks almost exactly the same as it did a week ago but the other day I put in the Transmission and TC. Then I had most of the afternoon and evening so reinstalled and bled the clutch, installed the starter, flywheel cover/inspection plate, rear drive shaft, parking brake cables, reinstalled all the brake lines, switched out the crank and water pump pulley for two groove pulleys, installed the alternator and power steering pump, went to the parts store for a couple new fan belts.

 

Another trip to parts store for a 51” fan belt. They charged me $35 for one belt!

Home and on Amazon I got 2 for $17. ( there’s cheaper $6 belts also).

 

Good grief take that belt back.

I know right.
I made a small scene at the store. Holding my chest, falling to the floor, screaming for paramedics.

 

Been plugging away at putting everything back together. New mufflers and the rest of the exhaust took most of one evening last week. Checking bolts, cutting off u-bolts. Put in new plugs and the transmission covers on today.

Then Sniper on the Dauntless!!

I am anxious to see what fuel pump & fuel lines & routing you are going to use!

 

That was done a couple years ago. I had the Sniper on the tired 231 I just pulled.

The pump is the in-tank version that Holley sells. It's made to fit the 15gal rear tank. I’m very happy with it and have had zero issues.

Short sections of High PSI rated fuel tube off the tank. A big filter just in front of the tank. Hard lines (feed and return) along the driver side frame to engine compartment (up the firewall on driver side). More short sections of tube to the TBI. I had to buy the hose barb fittings to connect the hose to the 6AN fitting on the carb (one 90* and one 180*). Holley said the return line wasn’t necessary with this setup because the pump has an internal pressure regulator. I figured if the pump ever broke and I had to use an external pump I’d be happy to have the return line.

 

My opinion is the return line helps keep the fuel cool and allows any air in the line to be purged on it's own. Air would get in the line more easily on a rock hopping 4x4 than most especially if you teach your jeep to "roll over"

 

How does anyone keep their battery tray from rusting out? Scrape and paint every other year for me.
