    Powerlock limited slip. The best limited slip Jeep ever used.

    That differential can lock up tight when needed and it can be invisible when you don't want to know its there. Those cross pins are on ramps and can really wedge in and lock tight. I've had a few of them but still don't have one in the rear 44 but I do have an NOS one sitting on the shelf waiting to go in...!

    I rebuilt mine with new clutches and was very impressed with how it worked on and off road (y)

    Have power locks for front and rear. Very good units and you can get different rated clutch packs for them.

    I was thinking about getting a power lock for my front Dana 27 but I wasn't sure how the steering would be when 4wd is engaged. Can you still confidently turn off-road and going slow?

    I put set in my 2a. I hated it with a passion up front!! I think it was set up too tight. I ended up doing most of the rubicon in three wheel drive due to the fact I could not turn it if both hubs were locked.

    Jay did you have power steering on the 2a? Good to know your input - thank you. Not sure if you've tried a different clutch setup or just left it tight?

    I had one with power steering and only noticed it a few times. Maybe it was getting worn?

    I'm no expert but actually for non-competition or off-road only use thats how I would have mine setup. You can set them up a little loose and then with a hair of throttle the cross runs up the ramps and you have dang near full lock if needed. I would guess yours is potentially the way to have it setup in the front.

    Powerlock probably was set too tight or no friction modifier in the gear oil.

    That-is the beauty of the the Powerlock, they can be set up however you want them.

    Just intall the soft clutch pak in the front.
    I ran manual sag steering for years with detroits frt & rear and at "low jeeping" speeds, I never had a problem of not being able to steer.
    I would think a detroit would be more positive/aggressive then a power lock regarding hard to steer.

    I’m learning everybody has different interpretations of steering hardness with lockers. I have a lock right in the front of mine and yes it wants to go straight when I want to turn, but I expect that. If you are used to steering easily with an open diff and expect a limited slip or locker to behave the same then you will be disappointed.

    I went from a power lock to lock rite and neither one bothered me. I have a D30 and ARB now and a selectable is cool. Unfortunately I don't believe there are any for a D27, at least not that I could ever find.

    I've had a front power lock (not power lok as in the posi but as in the locker that replaces your spiders) and it had nice traction off-road but you couldn't engage the front axle on-road anymore. This was in a ZJ. For my CJ5 I think a power-lok setup just right would be...just right
