What steering box brace have you done for your early CJ with a Saginaw conversion? I have a 1967 CJ5 and would like to add a steering box brace but I cannot find one for the early CJs. I have searched but came up empty handed.
    Does anyone make them?
Do I get a later CJ brace and modify it?
I could build one but I am not sure about making up the box clamp part.

Any ideas and pictures would be great.
    Thanks.

Mine is not an early CJ, but I bought the clamp separately and then made the bar. I don't remember the vendor, but I'll see if I can track it down.
I'll grab a picture of the bar to give you an idea on an option.

You could build your own as I did.....using a 1.250" piece of Chro-mo tubing with Right / Left threaded bungs to adjust..........or you could get a store bought one and use the two piece clamp that comes with it that goes around the steering gear .....then modify the opposite end by either putting a threaded clevis or heim joint on it and then building and welding on brackets on the frame with a hole in it to grab the clevis or joint.

I purchased the Summit clamp but haven't used it yet. Seems ok though. In the past I used the large end of connecting rods and modified as necessary to fit. Worked well. Wasn't "smooth" but looked kinda cool.

Tarry, that clamp you made for the steering box is a thing of beauty. If you ever decide to make any more, keep us informed how much they might be.
That looks as nice as some of the custom fab work I've seen from the NASCAR teams up around Charlotte.
