need help what is causing the noise

    I thought you meant the broken oil collector was making the noise.....I was confused. :D

    What broke off the collector ended up getting in the bearings . When i spun each one i could feel the grind ,like in the video . This is my guess ??? I cannot order a new oil collector . Novack and walcks does not sell it

    I don't use the oil collector and have had no problems. I snap off the sheet metal part and and reuse the thick plate for the bolts to seal the holes in the front of the case. Make sure you use the bolt gaskets or a little rtv under the heads of the bolts or you will have a leak there.
    Ed Holbrook has been doing these since he worked for a Studebaker dealer and he does the same and has had no issues.

    What Nick said and make sure the RTV you use is oil resistant.

    Transmission is done ! Hopefully have it in tomorrow . Shifts great and the bearings are very very quiet with just assembly lube in them .

    For me, I know the input shaft bearing failed due to lack of oil and reinstalled my oil collector

    Oil level probably got low due to leaks is my guess or oil was contaminated at some point and run. Most transmissions get oiled by the climbing action of the oil up the gears and splash. With modern oils and lubes it's not really an issue. If it makes you feel better having it there then there is certainly nothing wrong with that.
