Yes it is very rough but it was either going to the scrap yard or my yard. Couldn't see that happening.

Has a slant 4cyl, axles, T-case and Trans.

    Needs work :)

I'm not sure the hood will fit. But seriously, good find and glad you're resurrecting this old gal. Can't see any old iron going to the scrapper. What are your plans? Resto or mod? I've got a rebuildable Buick 231 V6 if you go that way. That's what mine has and boy what a sweet way to go. Have fun!

Thanks Stich-Not sure about the engine, never dealt w/a International but the guy said its a good motor and was bolted up to the trans.

By rebuildable - specify and price if you don't mind.

Plans are to get her cleaned up and on the road. I have to investigate the VIN and see where it came from etc then go that route w/the color. Might be a CJ2a, I can't be sure yet.

It will be a daily summer driver that is for sure :)

I'm going to keep it stock and not hack it up-that's just wrong IMHO.

    I'm still smiling.

Had an old Willys when I was a kid, it belonged to my uncle then my cousin came on the scene and her gave it to him :( My cousin turned around and sold it for 100 bucks-running driving Willys, I cried for years until now :)

That engine could be either a 154 or 196 and probably should be termed an 8/2 instead of a 4 cylinder. IHC just loped one bank off the 304 and 392 V8's with a resulting hell for stout 4 banger. Either will have notably more power than the stock L head but neither would have been my first choice for a transplant. Is it mated to a D18 or D20?

And that Willys looks a lot better than some I have seen restored. The adventure begins.

I'd bet it's a 152. The 196 is one heavy pig and the front springs don't look that compressed. I pulled one from my '76 Scout Terra and it was all I could do to walk it around by rocking it. At that time I could pick up sbc shortblocks.
The 152 is a good stout 4 cylinder.

Not sure about the mate-didn't look that close. I was just interested in getting the stuff before he changed his mind.

I will post some detailed pics when I get it here. Never heard of a IHC motor let alone one hacked off so you all will probably need to help me w/it if that's ok.

A guy in Reno just told me he has two CJ2a's and he is making a 4door out of another '46 he has. He will be taking pics of parts :) :) :) might come together a little more easier now.

It does look pretty good, might need some floor pan work, we will see when all the junk is out of it.

By rebuildable, I mean that I took it out of mine because I got a good running used one for a trade job and mine has a low #6 cylinder (25#) and a ticking or slight knock when running. It's complete and need $200 for it as is.

Others are probably right that it is an International 152 CID; may have been a bolt up to the gearbox. By coincidence I just saw a first generation stock Scout on the street yesterday- you don't see them very often anymore.

Pontiac also had a slant 4- the right bank of a Pontiac 389, giving it 195 CID. Made in the early 60s. Some of them could put out 155 HP if it came stock with the high compression and 4 barrel. But I grant it's probably the IH you have.

That is what the guy said and I will get some numbers off the block next week. I didn't even think about a 4bbl-that would be nice :)

    Thank you Stich-thinking about it.

    Thanks again,
    Jim

I was thinking about the Pontiac as well but those are few and far between. Had a customer years ago with one in a flatty.
I was thinking 152 IH because the T-90 was used behind them in Scouts with the same bolt pattern and 18 transfer case so would be a fairly easy swap. The Scout input is a different length iirc though just for future reference.

We will have to get a crayon and go over the data tag so we can read it better.

The data tag reads - 171281
    2125526
    107178

Better engine pics later this week, then maybe we can tell what it is.

    No bell housing.

Not sure if the tranny/t-case are Scout or Jeep

Looks like an adapter on the input shaft of the tranny.

    Thanks,
    Jim
