Since I am planning on running a 8K winch and 800 CCA dual type battery on my cj2A, I installed a Delco 105 amp marine 10Si one-wire alternator on my L134. The wiring schemes I have seen show a primary direct connect to the ammeter. I have a couple of questions: 1. If hooked up directly I think it will smoke the 30 amp ammeter I have in the dash. I think I need a 100+ amp ammeter. Right? 2. I am very uncomfortable with that much energy going through the dash panel - even if it is fused. I thought I might be able to install a shunt near the alternator and pass the primary direct to the battery then to a fused distribution panel. Any ideas that might help?
