Dash Layout

Three years after disassebly, I find that I did not take enough pictures. (What a surprise!) As I plug the various empty holes in the dash, I have several questions.

This is a snap of the original dash. (gauges that appear to be added are pressure and temperature)



I have circled the holes that I do not even have a clue about. [far left near edge, and two switches above the gauges...]

And, is the clutch or throttle on top?

 

The hole to the left of the column looks like it could be for the flashers, the 3 on that side should be lights, wipers and flashers. Don't know what the others are, don't think there stock.

 

Left hole circled looks like the vacuum line from the wipers.

Thanks for the pic. Has anyone ever seen a floor with the panel shown in the pic ( pass side under the # 7 & 8 )? I've Never seen one in all the JEEPS I've looked at or parted out. What would it be for? Carryover for access to battery box on M38A1??? Toe cooler option? Gopher sniping gun port???R)

 

It was a carryover from the M88a1. Grrr! Having a real brain cramp today. I used to know what it was for! Nickmil

 

i just got a stock panel from a 69 5 with original radio. virtually no rust. if you would like me to post images let me know. as far as i can tell the only "extra" opening is one for the amp gauge but it may even be proper?

 

I could really use a shot of a '70 V6 model, if anyone has one. I've got a hole for 1, 2, and 3, but 1 is my ignition and 2 is plugged. To the left of the column I've got 4 holes in a row that currently have lights, choke, wipers, and a plug. No ammeter hole. Would like to know where these are supposed to go, and also need to figure out what to do with the washer fluid push button.

I've got the ignition, lights, choke, and wiper in the correct location. I don't have hazards on the dash as they are mounted to my column. Does that leave the wiper fluid down and to the left of the ignition?

Should I get my own thread? Didn't mean to hijack. Just happened to be asking a really similar question at the same time I was looking for an answer. Sorry.

 

Geez, I think my headlight switch has been in the wrong position since day 1!

yep that is the handle for the windshield washer to the left and low from the ignition switch. The dash on my 70' is also pretty original. I noticed in that pic a large button to fill a hole near the ignition switch. I have a stock cig lighter there. Also my choke is located where the other small filler button is and I have no hole where his choke is located. Mike

 

Hold on here. Now I'm confused. I went to relocate my headlight switch tonight to match the picture but the switch doesn't fit there. The hole has a different shape. The hole on the lower left of the speedo is the matching shape for the headlight switch.
I have a 64 dash here as well and the hole is the same.
Does everybody else have the headlight switch in the upper right?

 

I went to mount my "reproduction" headlight switch where it is shown in the manual. Sure enough the hole is a "D" shape and the switch is perfectly round. It took a little careful grinding to get it to fit, now it is snug.....

And, I rotated the switch so that the terminals are facing down to prevent moisture, or stray hardware from creating electrical misconduct.

 

Don't know if anybody still needs this info, but here is some pics out of my FSM that show some pretty good dash detail. They dont look that great on the net, but if you down load the pics, they should show up pretty good. Dial ups be aware there pretty good size file, but had to do it this way to get the detail.

Still confused here.
My headlight switch is D shaped. My bottom left hole is D shaped. My top right hole is like a slot for the choke knob.
