Transmission Won't Shift into Reverse After Tub Replacement

When I bought my 74 CJ5 nearly in parts it had an old rotten tub on it and at the time I was able to drive it up onto a trailer and the reverse worked. After tearing everything down to the frame (left drivetrain in) I cleaned it all up and then mounted a fiberglass body. The only things I changed dealing with the transmission was a fluid flush, dropped it about an inch when I put on lift, and had to remount the clutch linkage. I fired it back up and all the gears engage except I cannot get it to shift into reverse. It simply will not go fully into that position. I have checked the clearance with the body to ensure the shifter is not hitting the new cutouts. Could this be a linkage adjustment? I don't see how that could be the case since it shifts into the other gears fine.

Any suggestions? It is the T90 3 speed transmission.

Simplest thing is to remove the shifter top (cane) and see if you can shift to all four position. Manually put the tranny into reverse and this will give you a chance to look at the condition of the gears and the shift forks.

    Probably not a T-90. Should be Ti14 with straight 6 and T-15 with a V-8

Aftermarket rubber shifter boots are too stiff. If you changed the boot try removing it. If it's Omix it'll tear apart within a few miles anyhow.
