This for an early CJ-5. Probably built in the first 6 months of 1955....Do these look like the same mounting brackets that a CJ-3b would use?

Here is a picture of the rearmost mounting hole....

Does it look like one of these would fit here?

If not, how do you think the seat was mounted?

    I also found this....

It looks as though my early CJ-5 has the same mounting system as the CJ-2's and CJ-3's...the seats are different though. ...now to find one....

OK..in reading the info from the previously posted links, I think I've figured it out.

My jeep never had a seat installed from the factory. I think someone found a CJ-2 or CJ-3 seat and tried to make it fit....I remember the seat we had with the jeep(I cut the legs off when I was about 14 to make a go-cart seat...). It had the bent flats on the front legs and the pin and socket arrangement in the rear. It never fit well. I looked under the jeep and the area where the rear mounting clips should have been bolted show no signs of there ever being anything there. No scratched or discolored paint or rust or anything. And the holes look more like they were punched out rather than a smooth, clean factory type opening.

So here is another pic. I think it shows the indentations where the rear mounting holes would have been drilled, and also where the center hole would have been for the seat latch pin to recess into...
