I've been looking high and low, and I'm about to the point of giving up and getting a different damn windshield frame...

I can't find the wiper linkage (short one, between the motor and the center-mounted wiper) for my CJ5 to save my life. Mine is around 9", the only one for sale (everywhere) is 10 1/4". What I cannot for the life of me understand is that the one that was installed when I bought it almost seemed to short, as it was pulling on the wipers and causing one to bottom out and actually go upside-down at one end of the oscillation, if that makes sense. I replaced the wiper motor, but everything lined up, and this happened on the old and the new motor. There were no new holes in the windshield frame, so I know that everything was in its original spot.

I tried using the 10 1/4" model and shortening it, but as I am no welder, I had to take it to a guy and get him to do it for me for $20. I had him shorten it by 3/4", but of course now it's too long, so it seems I need something BARELY longer than the original. I can buy another "wrong" linkage and make another attempt to shorten it, too, but this is getting really old. Is there something I'm missing here? I'm just flabbergasted that the original equipment didn't work, as it makes no sense to me, and I'm so over this issue that I'm half-tempted to buy a whole new windshield frame for a later model, paint it, put a new wiper setup and windshield in it, and put it on instead. I'm just not sure that it's even possible, not to mention my lack of desire to spend $500-800 unnecessarily.

    Any advice?

Just an update; finally came up with a solution. Got a welder to thread a bolt into a new linkage so the length can be adjusted. Don't know why I didn't think of this before...

You can see the original on the left, first try in the middle, with the finished product on the right. Quite a difference in workmanship with the new guy. Hope this one works, but I'm pretty sure it will.
